Designer Research - Valentino

This blog post would be researching the well-known and a recognized legend in the fashion industry - Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani. As I had mentioned in the previous post, I didn't deeply know about him before, so I am researching his biography and discuss some of his design.

Valentino is an Italian fashion designer, who was born on 11 May 1932 in Voghera (Doyle, 2017). When he was 17 years old, he left his hometown and moved to Paris to start his fashion life by entering the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and the Γ‰cole des Beaux-Arts. After he finished studying, he started his training on illustrations by becoming an apprentice at Jean DessΓ¨s and under Guy Laroche, in which he established his own style of aesthetics. In 1959, Valentino left Paris and opened a fashion house in Rome, then his first collection has been presented on Via Condotti with financial support from his parents, in which recognition was gained through his design of red dresses. Valentino met Giancarlo Giametti in 1960 and became his partner for professional support, then the brand has been recognized universally since his international debut at the Pitti Palace in 1962. Various celebrities found Valentino for his fashion designs, such as Queen Paola of Belgium, Princess Margaret of England, Audrey Hepburn, as well as his major client Jacqueline Kennedy. From the Seventies to Eighties, Valentino opened more and more shops in Europe, including childrenswear and a clothing collection entitled Olivier. In 1998, Valentino sold his company to the Italian conglomerate HdP, then the brand was sold to Marzotto Apparel in 2002. In 2006, Valentino was awarded the 6th Legion d’Honneur, then he announced his retirement in 2007 before his final show at the MusΓ©e Rodin in Paris.

When everyone hears his name, most of us would naturally relate to the nobility of Rome. Valentino represents a kind of courtly luxury, it
represents a kind of palace luxury. The soft and close-fitting silk fabric cilia design combine with the noble bright satin silks, the cutting and the noble combination, have presented out the stretching the elegant charm
