Research: Textile pattern

Continue with the last blog post, I will be researching different types of textile pattern.

As I had found out of the research, Kente or Ashanti cloth from only Ghana(a country in West Africa) has already over 300 different traditional patterns. In the beginning, most of those patterns were inspired by the nature, which can be visualised or conceptualised. On the land, they observed the plants, for instance, leaves, trees, thorns, pods and seeds, with their elegant shapes, lines and patterning, and also the shape markings on animals, birds and insects; On another hand, for sea, they observed waves create textures in the sand, seashells and fish have their intricate patterning for adornment and coral creates those amazing outline shapes. That's the reason why most of their primitive culture is full of rhythm and repetition of form and shape and patterns.
